You are currently browsing the monthly archive for March 2008.

Our latest show, which aired April 1st (see previous post) is now available in streaming format in the archives. In addition to the complete show you can also find extended, web-exclusive footage from Jonas Lamb’s interview with Buddy Tabor.

On Tuesday, April 1st, at 8 pm (AKST), KTOO 104.3 FM will be airing the next “Letters from the North,” a showcase of Alaskan writers, storytellers, and poets.

This time around the theme is Work. The songwriting of Juneau musician and house painter, Buddy Tabor is featured in a special interview with Jonas Lamb. Other features include poetry by Katie Bausler and Jonas Lamb, a fishing story by Therese Harvey, Mark Gnadt of Barrow reads an essay about the toughest (and youngest) boss he’s ever worked for, Ginny Mahar shares an essay about her stint as a cheese monger, and Evelyn Richards asks some children that never-ending question: what do you want to be when you grow up?

If you aren’t in Juneau, you can listen to the broadcast live at http://www.ktoo.org/ . Just click the button that says “Listen Live” under KTOO News. Hope you can tune in, and if not, the show will be available in the archive soon after broadcast. Enjoy!

It’s that time again, time to get out the pens and notebooks, keyboards and harddrives, or those dusty archives of past work you’ve been waiting to find the perfect home for. Letters from the North is welcoming submissions for our next show. The deadline for submissions is April 20th. As you may already know, we are no longer setting themes for the submission period, but rather allowing the themes to come to us organically from the work submitted; that means you can submit ANYTHING, as long as it’s your most excellent work. April 20th is a full moon, so why not do something wild and daring, and share your work with us! For more information please view the link to our submission guidelines. Thanks and good luck!

Well March has arrived, not looking too much like a lion this year, but today’s a fine snowy day and the LFTN crew have been busy putting together a strategy to wrap up production on LFTN #3: Work. It’s going to be a great show, jam packed with great segments from Ginny Mahar, Therese Harvey, Katie Bausler, Mark Gnadt, Jonas Lamb w/ Buddy Tabor and Evelyn Richards who has collected some priceless perspectives on work from a child’s perspective. Stay tuned for air dates which will be posted here shortly.
